Vittoria Chierici, filmmaker e saggista di fama internazionale, originaria di Bologna. Vive e lavora a New York e a Eastport, nel Maine, dove ha il suo studio.
I vestiti dei Filosofi (SDA), New York 2016-2018
Il ciclo Le Tuniche dei Filosofi si identifica principalmente con le vesti indossate dal “cast” costituito dai personaggi della Scuola di Atene, l’affresco di Raffaello nelle Stanze Vaticane. Queste tuniche danno vita al grande dialogo tra filosofi e matematici, riuniti su un unico palcoscenico pur appartenendo a epoche diverse. Poco prima della raffigurazione vera e propria dei personaggi, le tuniche si ergono da sole e bastano a plasmarne il movimento.
Sono 29 canovacci + 24 mussole di cotone non preparato. Opere realizzate con emulsione fotografica e dipinte in acrilici e olio su tele libere, senza telaio.

The Philosophers’ Clothes ( The School of Athens), New York 2016-2018
The cycle The Philosophers’ Clothes identifies primarily with the robes worn by the ‘cast’ constituted by the characters of the School of Athens, th efresco by Raphael in theVatican rooms. These tunics give life to the great dialogue between philosophers and mathematicians on one stage together though belonging to different epochs. Just before the actual painting of the personages, the tunics stand alone and suffice to shape their motion.
The paintings aremade with photographic emulsion and painted in acrylics and oil on unstretched canvases and cotton canvases and muslins.
